I founded Firefly Fencing in 2008 after an extremely successful collaboration with my father. His patented CircuitShell electronics enclosure gave me the idea for an inexpensive club scoring apparatus. Between his experience as an electrical engineer and small business owner, and my knowledge of the sport of fencing and firmware programming skills, we were able to breathe life into the Firefly Fencing Apparatus.
In 2007, I filed a U.S. patent application for AutoClock™, the feature that sets the Firefly Fencing Apparatus apart from the competition, allowing fencers to keep time even during practice, and to prevent overzealous fencers from “starting early” and gaining an unfair advantage.
I operate Firefly Fencing from Portland, Oregon, an amazing city that holds a special place in my heart. Here in the Pacific Northwest, we are very concerned about environmental and social issues, and I try to reflect those values when making decisions for Firefly Fencing.
